Introduction

Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine is located in Dazaifu City, Fukuoka Prefecture, Japan. It is one of the main shrines dedicated to Tenjin, the god of learning and calligraphy in Japan, along with Kitano Tenmangu Shrine in Kyoto. It enshrines Sugawara no Michizane, a scholar and poet from the Heian period, and also serves as his burial place. Many students visit the shrine to pray for success in their academic pursuits.

Opening hours
The hours are from 6:00-19:00 on the day before the Spring and Autumn Equinoxes, 6:30-20:00 from June 1st to August 31st, and 6:30-19:00 from September 1st to May 31st of the following year.

Take the West Japan Railway to the Dazaifu Station, and walk for about 5 minutes.
