Introduction

The beautiful area in front of the Sakaide train station was once a "tenryo" belonging to the Tokugawa Shogunate during the Edo period. As a center for material transportation, the area thrived with a prosperous population and bustling businesses. Today, this area still retains many old merchant residences from that time period, as well as modern buildings such as the Ohara Museum of Art and multiple museums. The entire neighborhood blends traditional Japanese culture with western style architecture, creating a unique atmosphere.
