Qingdao, Subtropical Paradise with Divine Stripes

Introduction

Qingdao is a charming small island on the Miyazaki Nichinan coast, with an area of only 1.5 square kilometers. There are over 200 species of subtropical plants here. The island is home to a subtropical botanical garden and the Qingdao Shrine. The coastal rocks surrounding Qingdao have been subject to strong waves and erosion, forming stair-like wave patterns. This amazing water-formed geological phenomenon presents as straight grooves on the boulders, resembling a washboard, with Qingdao situated in the middle like a pile of laundry waiting to be washed. This is the most unique landscape of Qingdao, known as the "Devil's Washboard" (Oni no Sentakuita) by locals.
