Introduction

Okayama Castle was built during the Shōhei era and once served as the headquarters of the Okayama Domain. Today, the Tsukimi Yagura and Nishinomaru Nishite Yagura within the castle are designated as important cultural properties in Japan. In 2006, Okayama Castle was included in the list of Japan's Top 100 Castles.

Transportation
Walking: From JR Okayama Station, follow "Momotaro Avenue" all the way to the end; Bus: From JR Okayama Station, take the Okayama Electric Tramway Bus (Okayama Electric Highya Line) or the Ryobei Bus (via Higashiyama to Saijo Line), both get off at the Prefectural Government Office Front Stop and walk for 5 minutes; Streetcar: Take the tram from the front station of Okayama Station heading towards Higashiyama and get off at the Joshidai Station, walk for 10 minutes.
