Introduction

Seto Ohashi Bridge is a coastal bridge complex consisting of six bridges, connecting the distances between islands. It connects five islands between Okayama and Kagawa Prefectures, with a total length of 9.4 kilometers. The bridge complex is made up of multiple suspension bridges, cable-stayed bridges, and girder bridges, forming a spectacular bridge landscape. Construction of Seto Ohashi Bridge started on October 10, 1978, and it took nearly 10 years to complete. The bridge was officially opened on April 10, 1988. It serves as both a highway and railway, with the upper level being a four-lane expressway (Seto Chuo Expressway) and the lower level being the JR Shikoku Seto Ohashi Line.
