Introduction

The Moji Port Retro District, centered around Moji Port Station, preserves many historical buildings. This area was once an international port city and experienced a prosperous period since its opening in 1889. Many trading companies and transportation companies constructed office buildings in Western-style architecture. Several buildings, including JR Moji Port Station, were built during the Meiji and Taisho eras and have been designated as important cultural properties by the Japanese government. When night falls, these buildings are illuminated by beautiful lights. In addition, there are several museums and art galleries in the Moji Port Retro District, allowing visitors to gain a deeper understanding of the history and culture of Moji Port.
