Introduction

Kagoshima is located in a sea with a huge current called the "Kuroshio," which allows various types of fish such as whale sharks, bonitos, and tuna to swim southeast with the current. In addition, the coral reefs around Yakushima, Tanegashima, and the chain of islands known as the "Southwest Islands" are also very developed. To showcase these unique landscapes, Kagoshima Aquarium has designed themed exhibits such as "Sea of Kuroshio," "Sea of Southwest Islands," and "Sea of Kagoshima" located in the center of Kinko Bay. Each themed area is carefully crafted to allow visitors to observe up-close the marine life from the waters surrounding Kagoshima and experience the wonders of nature.
