Introduction
Meriken Park is a waterfront park located near Kobe Port, adjacent to Kobe Tower and the Kobe Maritime Museum. It is a great place to enjoy the beautiful views of Kobe Harbor and also serves as a memorial park for the Great Hanshin Earthquake. The park preserves the remnants of the earthquake, such as damaged seawalls and tilted lampposts, offering a close-up look at the extent of the disaster. There are exhibition spaces nearby displaying photographs and panels documenting the destruction caused by the earthquake, demonstrating the resilience and unity of people involved in the reconstruction efforts.
