Introduction

Nara National Museum was established in 1895 and consists of the main hall and the West Wing. The main hall, built in the Meiji period, features a Western architectural style, while the West Wing showcases a raised wooden structure in the Showa period's architectural style. In 1997, the Second New Wing (East Wing) was completed. In 2010, the main hall underwent interior renovations and now serves as the Nara Buddhist Sculpture Hall, open to the public. The museum offers free volunteer-guided tours.
