Introduction

The Nur-Astana Mosque is located on the left bank of the Ishim River and has a building height of 40 meters, symbolizing the age when Prophet Muhammad received the Quran. Four 63-meter-high minarets symbolize the age at which Prophet Muhammad passed away. The mosque can accommodate 5,000 people for indoor congregational prayers and has sufficient outdoor space to accommodate 2,000 people. Since it was opened to tourists in 2005, it has been known as the third largest mosque in Central Asia.
