Introduction

The Shoisen-do Temple was built in 1641 by the poet and landscape architect Ishikawa Jozan, serving as his residence in his later years. The main hall features portraits of 36 ancient Chinese poets, hence its name Shoisen-do (Hall of the Immortal Poets).
