Introduction
Umekoji Steam Locomotive Museum is a railway museum in Kyoto, Japan, with a theme focused on steam locomotives. It is located in the Shimogyo ward of Kyoto City, operated by West Japan Railway Company. After its retirement, this museum will be integrated with the vehicles on display at the Museum of Transportation Sciences in Osaka, and is planned to be closed from August 30, 2015, until spring 2016 for the integration as the "Kyoto Railway Museum".
The Kyoto Railway Museum opened on April 29, 2016, in the Shimogyo ward of Kyoto City, Kyoto Prefecture. Its predecessors include the Umekoji Steam Locomotive Museum and the Museum of Transportation Sciences in Osaka.
