Introduction

The art museum, established in 1933, is located in a building built in 1928. It is the second largest public art museum in Japan after the Tokyo National Museum. The museum primarily exhibits modern art works and frequently hosts various short-term art exhibitions from both domestic and international artists. The museum's collection consists of over 2,100 artworks, including works by renowned Japanese artists such as Takeuchi Seiho, Tomioka Tessai, Kamisaka Sekka, Kōgyo Tsukioka, Kajiwara Hisako, Kaneshima Kōka, as well as Western paintings, sculptures, crafts, calligraphy, and prints.
