Introduction

Yashima Park is located next to Takamatsu Port and was originally the site of Takamatsu Castle. Takamatsu Castle was the residence of the feudal lord of ancient Takamatsu, and surrounding the castle was a moat filled with seawater. It not only served a defensive purpose, but also played a role in preventing fires and disasters. Therefore, Takamatsu Castle is also known as one of Japan's three greatest water castles. In order to preserve history and culture, Yashima Park was established on the site of Takamatsu Castle.
