Introduction
Kuala Selangor is a fishing village located south of Kuala Lumpur, about an hour's drive away. It offers fresh and affordable seafood, as well as delicious fried prawn cakes and fish cakes. Almost every household here dries fish in their yards, and the old houses and friendly residents create a picturesque countryside scene. Visitors are often amazed by the locals' habit of leaving their doors unlocked during the day.
Although Kuala Selangor is small, its firefly sightings at night are a unique attraction for tourists. It is home to the third largest firefly colony in the world, located in a peaceful town on the outskirts of the fishing village. When night falls, countless fireflies gather along the river mouth, and tourists can take a boat ride to admire this magnificent sight. To enhance the firefly-watching experience, it is recommended to avoid visiting on the full moon day (15th day of lunar calendar) as the moonlight can interfere with visibility. Additionally, visitors should be mindful of mosquitoes and refrain from using flashlights to maintain a quiet environment.
