Introduction

Penang City Hall, built in 1903, is a magnificent example of Victorian architecture and served as the headquarters of the Penang Island Municipal Council. The memorial for soldiers who lost their lives in World War I also stands proudly here. In 2013, Penang City Hall received the Best Municipal Council award from Europe.
