Introduction

The Red Square is located in the heart of Malacca, adjacent to the Christ Church and the Red House. The most striking feature is the Queen Victoria's Fountain, left behind by the British colonists and completed in 1901. Visitors often make wishes by throwing coins into the fountain. In front of the fountain stands a red clock tower, built in 1886 to commemorate Chen Jingqiao, and it remains a highlight for locals and tourists. The square is an important place for taking a trishaw tour of Malacca, and trishaw riders often decorate their vehicles in a colorful and glamorous manner to attract customers. The trishaw riders can also introduce various attractions, but it is best to negotiate the price in advance. There are also some shops selling specialty products around the square. Occasionally, you can enjoy art performances on the square.
