Introduction
Medina is one of the main attractions in Tunis, famous for its ancient castles and grand mosques. It has been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The ancient castles were built in 821 AD and served as lighthouses and watchtowers to protect the coastal areas. The grand mosque, ordered to be built by the Aglabid dynasty king Muhammad, was established in 851 AD. The mosque has thick walls made of square stones and does not have a minaret. Additionally, there are three dome-like towers standing at the corners of the mosque. Inside the mosque, you will find a courtyard paved with white marble, giving it an ancient and charming atmosphere.
