Introduction
The Vanguard Ecological Village, located in the northern part of Chongming Island, is a village that emerged from the reclamation of tidal flats in 1969. The village has been awarded the "Global Top 500 Eco-village Nomination Award" and is one of the earliest villages in Shanghai suburbs to start agri-tourism. In 2004, it was officially awarded the title of "National Agricultural Tourism Demonstration Site" by the National Tourism Administration. Later in 2008, the village was rated a national-level ecological village. The villagers of the Vanguard Ecological Village are simple and the pastoral scenery is picturesque. Here, tourists can experience authentic rural life, making it a useful demonstration and exploration of China's new rural construction. Agri-tourism projects are especially attractive to many tourists who come to explore.
