Songtao Reservoir is a beautiful area with stunning natural scenery. Its steep mountains, picturesque rivers and springs, as well as the vast area of the reservoir itself, make it a rare geomantic treasure in Hainan. Since the construction began in 1958 and the operation started in 1969, the reservoir has continued to grow and develop, becoming even more beautiful and eye-catching. Both before and after its construction, Chinese leaders paid great attention to it. On February 9, 1960, Premier Zhou Enlai wrote an inscription for it; in June 1962, the famous poet Tian Han and his wife An E toured the reservoir by boat and left behind popular verses. Songtao Reservoir is one of the top ten reservoirs in the country, with a vast area, rich resources, irrigated fertile land, and multiple water conservancy projects, and is the second-largest earth dam in China. It offers integrated functions such as irrigation, flood control, water supply, power generation, navigation, aquaculture, afforestation, and tourism.
