Introduction
Beihai Old Street is a long-standing historic street built in 1883, with a history of nearly 200 years. The buildings on both sides of the street have a unique style, featuring a combination of Chinese and Western styles, including arcade-style architecture. Along the street, there are former sites of the British, French, and German consulates, the former site of the German Seaport Corporation and the former site of a Catholic nunnery, all of which witnessed Beihai's past prosperity. Today, Beihai Old Street has become a lively commercial street, offering various shops such as pharmacies, wine shops, and tea houses, as well as local delicacies like spicy conch, shrimp cakes, and pork foot powder. This allows visitors to not only savor authentic local cuisine but also experience Beihai's history and culture.
