Introduction
Dongpo Academy in Zhonghe, Danzhou City, was originally named Zaijiu Hall and served as a place where the Northern Song Dynasty literary giant Su Dongpo held lectures and met with friends. Zaijiu Hall was built in the fifth year of the Shaoxiang period of the Northern Song Dynasty (1098), and was named to facilitate lectures and friendship. During his three-year stay in Danzhou, Su Dongpo wrote and spoke, advocated agricultural education, and promoted cultural reforms, making significant contributions to the cultural enlightenment of Danzhou. Under his influence, reading and studying became popular throughout Hainan. Dongpo Academy has become a cultural holy site revered by generations and was named a national key cultural relic preservation unit in 1996. The academy covers an area of 25,040 square meters, including many ancient buildings and scenic spots with abundant exhibits, a comfortable environment, and a strong cultural atmosphere, making it an ideal place for sightseeing.
