Introduction
Located north of the Ye Shengtao Memorial Hall in Luzhi Ancient Town is the tomb of Ye Shengtao. The memorial hall was originally the "Wuxian Fifth High School" where Ye Shengtao served as a teacher and has now become a base for moral education in Jiangsu Province and a base for patriotic education.
Ye Shengtao, originally named Shao Jun, was born in 1894 in a poor family in Suzhou. After graduating from Suzhou Caqiao Middle School at the age of 18, he began his career as a primary school teacher and writer. From 1917 to 1921, he worked at the Wuxian County Fifth High School and developed a deep connection with Luzhi, regarding it as the birthplace of his growth, and affectionately calling it his "second hometown".
Ye Shengtao's tomb stands quietly under a thousand-year-old gingko tree. His teaching and educational philosophy will always be preserved in the memory of history, and he will be remembered by future generations.
