Introduction

Sunwen West Road Pedestrian Street is located in the Shiqi old town area of Zhongshan City, and is one of the earliest pedestrian streets in China. Its history can be traced back to ancient times when it was called Ying'en Street, and was renamed in 1925 in honor of Mr. Sun Yat-sen. In 1995, the Zhongshan City government carried out a re-planning and renovation of the street, which was fully completed on September 19, 1998. Sunwen West Road Pedestrian Street has a total length of about 529 meters, starting from the Zhongshan Department Store at the Yuelaikou intersection and ending at the Fengming intersection. The shops on both sides of the street are densely packed, and the architectural styles blend traditional ethnic architecture with characteristic Nanyang architecture, providing a vivid example of the integration of oceanic culture.
