Introduction

Baiyunbuluke Swan Lake, located in Hejing County in Xinjiang, is the largest and only natural swan reserve in Asia. This protected area covers an area of approximately 1,100 square kilometers, with an average elevation of 2,400 meters, and is composed of numerous lakes of varying sizes. It is home to the largest population of wild swans in China. The Baiyunbuluke Grassland is the second largest grassland in China, covering an area of 24,000 square kilometers and with elevations ranging from 2,300 to 2,800 meters. The inhabitants of this grassland are primarily ethnic Mongolians who place great importance on protecting the swans and living in harmony with them.

Transportation
The location of the Bainbrook District government is 338 kilometers away from Hejing County, with daily shuttle buses available. Usually, the route to Bainbrook is via Yining-Nalati, with the option to catch a ride to Bainbrook from Nalati; passing cars may be available from early morning till 9:00 pm. However, the road conditions along the way are poor, with vehicles being old and overloaded, so be prepared. It's best to catch a ride from Yining to Kashgar or Kuche because the only trains leaving from Xin Yuan are hard seats. There is a passing car to Kuche at 5:00 pm from Bainbrook, but seating is not guaranteed, and the journey of at least 200 kilometers takes eight hours.
