Introduction

The South Gate Tower is the most well-preserved of the six ancient city towers in Yinchuan's old town, located in the southern part of the old district. The current South Gate Tower was rebuilt in 1917 and has undergone multiple renovations and transformations, with the city walls on both sides demolished, the South Gate Square opened up, and viewing platforms built on both sides along with many plants being planted. Previously, South Gate Square was the site of grand celebrations in Yinchuan, but with the development of the city and the surrounding tall buildings, the beautiful view from the top of the tower has disappeared and various activities have been moved to the People's Square.
