Introduction
The 108 Tower of Qingtongxia is located on the west bank of the Qingtongxia Reservoir, about 60 kilometers away from the capital city of Yinchuan. It is one of a large group of lama towers, consisting of 108 towers arranged in an equilateral triangle with brick walls and brick-paved floors in front of each layer. The shape of the largest tower at the top of the tower group is larger, with a height of 5 meters. The tower base is a through-hole lama tower, with a niche gate on the east wall. The 2nd to 12th layers are solid lama towers, with a height of between 2.5 to 3 meters, and the tower base is an octagonal or sub-character shaped abacus pedestal. The tower body is divided into four types: the first layer is covered with a bowl, the 2nd to 4th layers are octagonal drum belly cone-shaped, the 5th to 6th layers are gourd-shaped, and the 7th to 12th layers are bottle-shaped. Local people believe that as long as they worship the 108 towers, they can eliminate the troubles in their lives and obtain good luck and fortune. This belief comes from Buddhism, which holds that there are 108 types of troubles in human life, and people should wear 108 beads and recite sutras 108 times to alleviate their troubles. Transportation To reach the scenic area, you need to first arrive at Qingtongxia Town, commonly known as "Qingzhen" by locals.
1. There is no public transportation available from Qingzhen to the scenic area, but you can hire a car in town for around 50 yuan round trip.
2. At the nearby Qingtongxia Dam Management Office, you can take a boat to the 108 Tower on the west bank of the Yellow River. However, the boat is not available every day, especially during winter, so it is recommended to hire a car in town instead.
