Introduction
Although it is called "Xuao", the residents of this ancient village all have the surname Wu. According to records, during the Xuanhe period of the Song Dynasty, Fang La rebelled, and Xu Zhen (a resident of Taishun Xianju) led his army to resist, but unfortunately died a heroic death. On the way back with the coffin, passing through Yuxi (a stream in front of today's Xuao), his spirit manifested and heavenly dew descended. Xuao was suffering from drought and poor harvests at that time, but since then, the harvest has been abundant every year. In order to commemorate Xu Zhen, the villagers named this area "Xuao".
There are many streets and alleys criss-crossing inside Xuao Village, with cobbled roads and ancient houses scattered on both sides, which is very charming. Ancient buildings such as Wenyuan Academy, Juren Mansion, and the Wu ancestral hall can also be visited in the village. Nowadays, Xuao has very few residents and appears very quiet and deserted, with a decadent atmosphere everywhere. From prosperity to desolation, all of this makes tourists deeply sad. However, Xuao is also an ideal place for tourism, summer vacation, and leisure.
