Introduction
Dongga Monastery is situated on a mountain shaped like a sea snail, and is one of the famous Red Sect temples. It is listed as one of the three major temples in Seda. The temple was founded by Qu Xiwujin in 1686, and features a statue of Sakyamuni Buddha and religious murals on three sides of the hall. The red columns are carved with dragon and floral designs, with vibrant colors and a solemn atmosphere.
The temple hosts various large and small Buddhist events throughout the year, especially during the Lotus Teacher Prayer Festival from the first to the tenth day of March, where monks recite Buddhist scriptures and pray for world peace and sentient beings' happiness. They also perform Tibetan opera and Vajra dance, which creates an amazing scene. Visitors are welcome to visit and experience it. In addition, the monastery also has an Exoteric and Esoteric Teaching College and a Closed Retreat Meditation Center, with more than 400 resident monks studying and practicing there.
