Introduction
The Tancheng, located on the highest peak in the Buddhist college, is magnificent and resplendent. It has three layers, but ordinary visitors can only visit the first and second floors. The first floor is a prayer wheel corridor with prayer wheels placed around it. Every day, believers come here to pray, and 10,800 circumambulations constitute a first-class prayer, 1,080 constitute a second-class prayer, and 108 constitute a third-class prayer. Nearby the Tancheng, devout believers can be seen performing prostrations on the open ground. In response, the college has placed wooden boards on the first-floor platform.
It is reported that the Tancheng originated from Indian Buddhist Tantra and is a gathering place for Tantra's deities. In Sanskrit, Tancheng means circle, and in Tibetan, it means center and edge. On the outside, the Tancheng symbolizes the pure land palace of the Buddha and Bodhisattvas, while in essence, it represents the tranquil state of mind of all living beings. The central deity represents the Buddha-nature of all living beings. Therefore, the Tancheng not only symbolizes the wisdom and power of the deity but also is an illustration of the cosmic truths of life. It is a remarkable spectacle of the merging of the "inner microcosm" and the "infinite macrocosm."
