Introduction
The Chuzu Temple is located near the Shaolin Temple and was built to commemorate the founder of Chan Buddhism, Bodhidharma. Bodhidharma practiced meditation in the Songshan and Luoyang areas and his main method was wall-facing meditation, hence the temple is also known as the "Bodhidharma Wall-facing Temple". The temple complex is not large, but it leaves a deep impression on visitors, and the surrounding mountains add to its mysterious atmosphere. In the Song Dynasty, there was also a "Wall-facing Pagoda" in the Chuzu Temple, although it has been destroyed, historical relics such as stone tablets and ancient inscriptions are still preserved. From 1983 to 1986, the Chuzu Temple underwent a comprehensive renovation, including the restoration of the surrounding walls. The temple now includes buildings such as the mountain gate, main hall, wall-facing pavilion, and Thousand Buddha Pavilion. The main hall, built in the Song Dynasty, uses wood and stone carving techniques, and is an important example of Song Dynasty's wood construction technology.
