Introduction
Shangdangmen and Zhonggulou were the ancient gates of the Shangdang County government office, with a long history. According to "Shi Ming," "Dang" means "the place where it is located," and "Shangdang" refers to the highest point of the Taihang Mountains. Shangdangmen was first built during the Sui Dynasty in the year of Kaihuang, with a gate tower reaching 1500 meters, as tall as the top of the Taihang Mountains, both magnificent and spectacular. During the Ming Dynasty, the governor of Luzhou, Ma Tun, carried out large-scale renovations on Zhonggulou, with simple yet sturdy and grand architecture that stood firmly. Today, Shangdangmen and Zhonggulou were built and preserved by Ma Tun and have become symbols and landmarks of Changzhi city. Tourists can climb to the top of the building to overlook the beautiful scenery of Changzhi. Shangdangmen is a provincial-level cultural relic protection unit and has been repaired and painted many times. The current Shangdangmen is even more magnificent and grand, full of youthful vitality.
