Introduction

Located in Lianyungang, Lianyun District, the Lanhaitong Levee is 6,700 meters long and connects Lian Island with the mainland, stretching from Huangshizui in Beigushan to Jiangjiazui, the largest island in Jiangsu. It is hailed as the "Number One Levee in China" and was built to better develop Lianyungang Port, establish the status of an eastern major port, and develop islands. Construction began on March 10, 1985 and was successfully completed on December 8, 1993. The levee is 12 meters wide on top with a net road width of 10 meters and a top height of 7 meters, with a top mark height of 9 meters. It also has an arc-shaped wave dam that is 7.8 meters tall. This "Great Wall on the Sea" provides direct access to Lian Island Beach and the seaside tourist resort. The levee was built after nearly 20 years of scientific research, surveying, testing, and approval by the State Council.
