Introduction

Zhongshan Road Pedestrian Street in Wuhu City is a witness to the city's hundred-year history and the soul of its glorious business. It has witnessed the city's ups and downs, glory and dreams, emitting a strong spirit, essence and charm. This road carries people's confessions, heartbeats and silence, representing a ship that drives the city towards the future. Located in the central-western part of Wuhu City, on the west side of Jinghu Lake, Zhongshan Road Pedestrian Street is nearly 700 meters long and 30-40 meters wide, and is a large-scale commercial street with comprehensive functions, playing an important role in the development of Wuhu City. From "the gathering of hundreds of items, the bustling sounds of the market, and no rest until night" to today's commercial center, this place has witnessed the ups and downs of modern commerce in Wuhu. In 1902, with an investment of 20,000 taels of silver, the predecessor of Zhongshan Road- "Dama Road" was born. In 1912, Sun Yat-sen made a speech here to promote democratic revolution to the people of Wuhu. In 1925, after Sun Yat-sen passed away, Wuhu renamed Dama Road to Zhongshan Road in honor of the great man. After the establishment of the People's Republic of China, in the early 1950s, Zhongshan Road underwent a large-scale transformation, with the widest road being over 10 meters, and commercial spots concentrated on both sides. Zhongshan Road changed its old image of a declining economy due to years of war and became the most bustling commercial center in Wuhu. Nowadays, Zhongshan Road Pedestrian Street is still constantly developing and expanding, becoming one of the well-known commercial districts in Wuhu City and even in the whole country.
