Introduction

Maotai Town is a historic town in northern Guizhou, China and a holy land of Chinese liquor. It is located by the Chishui River, surrounded by mountains and with a difficult terrain. The ancient scene of "Sichuan salt to Guizhou, Qin merchants gathered in Maotai" vividly depicts the prosperous history of Maotai white wine industry. Since Maotai liquor produced locally won a gold medal at the Panama World Exposition in 1915, its reputation has spread all over the world. By the early 20th century, it had become one of the world's famous wines. The National Liquor Culture City has seven exhibition halls of Han, Tang, Song, Yuan, Ming, Qing and modern times, with a collection of more than 5,000 plaques, calligraphy and painting, cultural relics, and other works, detailing the development of China's wine industry and its political, economic, cultural, and folk customs related to wine. This city condenses the brilliance and essence of China's 5,000-year wine culture, while also showcasing the historical development process of Maotai liquor. The museum was awarded the Guinness World Record in Shanghai in 1999.
