Introduction

This scenic area is renowned worldwide for its magnificent and well-preserved rock paintings of the Luoyue people over 2,000 years ago on the cliffs. It is also the largest and most well-preserved rock painting site in China. However, due to the difficult interpretation of the meaning, technique, and age of the paintings, they remain a mystery to this day. The villages of Laijiangtun and Bayaotun in the scenic area are traditional primitive villages of the Zhuang ethnic group, known as "living museums of rock paintings." The villages are built according to the terrain, scattered and beautiful, in contrast to the surrounding mountains and waters.
