Introduction
Qingyang Maoshi Cultural Village is located at the foot of Jianglang Mountain, about 20 kilometers from the city center. It is the birthplace of the Maoshi clan in southern China and the ancestral home of Mao Zedong. Hundreds of households in the village have the surname Mao, with a long history and many talented people, dating back 1500 years. The Qingyang Maoshi Genealogy was compiled in the sixth year of the Yuanfeng period of the Northern Song Dynasty, and was included in the National Archives as one of the first 48 national treasures of precious literary archives. Mao Zedong was the 56th generation descendant of the Maoshi clan in Qingyang, and the Maoshi clan in Shaoshan is his descendant. In 2006, Qingyang held a ceremony to welcome the family genealogy presented by the Maoshi clan from Shaoshan, Hunan. In 2006 and 2007, it was respectively named as the third batch of provincial-level historical and cultural villages. The ancestral home of the Maoshi clan in Qingyang, Mao Zishui's former residence, the Celebrity Museum, Qingyang Tower, and other attractions have opened to the public. The village has accumulated a historical and cultural heritage of "cultivating, studying, and passing on family traditions, being noble but not rich", and has produced eight Shangshu officials and 83 Jinshi scholars.
