Introduction
Nianbadi is a nationally historic and cultural town and also the hometown of Chinese folk art. It is uniquely located and known as the "key to Fengxi River". The ancient town has a history of over a thousand years, stretching from Fujian to Zhejiang. During ancient times, the third-ranking official of the judiciary was stationed here. Today, Nianbadi preserves 36 large-scale ancient residential buildings and 12 public buildings, including Confucius Temple, King Temple, Wanshou Palace, and Wenchang Pavilion. The architecture is diverse, integrating the characteristics of different regions, exquisitely carved and flowing with beauty. The ancient town has over 3,600 residents, 13 dialects, and 142 surnames, who still preserve the unique folk arts of mountain songs, folk dances, dragon boat races, lantern festivals, paper cutting, puppet shows, stilt walking, and stone sliding. Experts call it a "rare national treasure and the number one in Zhejiang Province" and a "natural folk museum". It is praised by intellectuals as a "cultural oasis" and "a dream lost in the mountains". Zheng Chenggong spent his childhood guarding the town with his father, adding to its rich history.
