Introduction
The Ertan Dam is located in Panzhihua City, with the highest double-curvature arch dam in China and the third highest in the world, as well as the largest underground powerhouse in Asia. Designed with a capacity of 3.3 million kilowatts, it is one of the largest hydroelectric power stations in China in the 20th century. After its construction, it also left many tourist attractions, attracting nearly a million visitors. In October 2005, it was rated as a "demonstration point for industrial tourism" by the National Tourism Administration. The Ertan Dam is about 46 kilometers from Panzhihua City and consists of a dam, underground powerhouse, water cushion pond, and spillway tunnel.
