Introduction

When it comes to Maoshan, people often associate it with Maoshan Taoists, because Maoshan is a holy land of Taoism and the origin of the Shangqing sect, with the nickname of "the first blessed land and the eighth cave heaven", and is highly respected. The majestic Jiuxiao Wanfu Palace atop Maoshan includes halls such as the Lingguan Hall, the Buddhist Scripture Tower, the Taiyuan Hall, the Three Saints Hall, and the Ascension Platform, ranking first among the "Three Palaces and Five Views" of Maoshan. In addition, Maoshan is renowned for its "beautiful mountains and strange caves", including scenic spots such as Jiufeng, Shibaiquan, Twenty-six Caves, Twenty-eight Ponds, as well as numerous landscapes such as Tingyan’s Strange Rock. Maoshan was also one of the centers of the New Fourth Army's Anti-Japanese base in southern Jiangsu, and Chairman Mao listed it as one of the six major Anti-Japanese bases nationwide. In the 1960s and 1970s, thousands of Changzhou educated youth left their youth and enthusiasm at Maoshan. The Maoshan Scenic Area includes nine attractions such as the Jiuxiao Wanfu Palace, the Yuanfu Wanting Palace, Xianren Cave, Huayang Cave, Xike Spring, Chu King Creek, Ge Hong Memorial Hall, Maoshan Painting and Calligraphy Academy, the Victory Memorial Monument for the Anti-Japanese War in Southern Jiangsu, and the New Fourth Army Memorial Hall, making it the core scenic area of Maoshan.
