Introduction

Inside the Chengtian Temple, there stands a towering ancient pagoda that reaches up to the clouds, called the "West Pagoda". It is currently the tallest brick pagoda in Ningxia and the only ancient pagoda with documented records of its construction era. Unlike most central plains temples that face south, the temple gate faces east, which is likely related to the Xixia people's worship of the east or the sun. Inside the gate, along the east-west axis, there are main buildings such as the Five Buddha Hall, the Buddha Pagoda, the Weituo Hall, and the Sleeping Buddha Hall, which are connected by small doors and walls forming a "yard within a yard" structure. Decorative brick carvings hang above the small doors. Climbing up the Chengtian Temple Pagoda, which is over sixty meters high, you can overlook the old city area of Yinchuan through the bright windows. Around the pagoda are six historical and ancient locust trees that perfectly complement the exquisite carvings on the tablet, creating a serene and ancient atmosphere.
