Introduction
In the twelfth year of the Ming Hongwu period, the Drum Tower stood tall in the commercial and cultural center, with a majestic momentum. The location of the Bell and Drum Towers was believed to affect the Feng Shui of the governor's office, and the Henan governor ordered the bells and drums to be exchanged, making the Bell Tower the Drum Tower and the Drum Tower the Bell Tower. However, the Drum Tower was destroyed in the war during the liberation of Kaifeng in 1948, leaving only the foundation. In 1976, the foundation was also demolished. The newest Drum Tower was built in 2013. Drum Tower Square is one of the largest night markets in Kaifeng, and a must-visit for tourists.
