Introduction

Gaomiao, located in the north of Zhongwei County, is a temple that combines three religions. Built on a high platform, it forms a large-scale ancient architectural complex together with Bao'an Temple below. After generations of expansion and reconstruction, Gaomiao has shown the characteristics of ancient architecture in Ningxia. It is one of the two major landscapes in Zhongwei and is known as a "desert wonder". Gaomiao was built in the Ming and Qing Dynasties, with exquisite and beautiful architecture, and cleverly built according to the mountain. Climbing up the 24 steep steps, you can see the coexistence of Buddhist, Taoist, and Confucian cultures such as Buddha, Bodhisattva, Yu Huang, Shengmu, Wenchang, and Guan Gong. The Hell Palace in Gaomiao is a major feature, showcasing the punishment of the 18 levels of hell. The dim lighting and terrifying sound effects leave a deep impression on people.
