Introduction

Chikan arcade is a type of architecture that integrates Western ancient architecture and Southern Chinese traditional culture, mainly used for commercial and residential purposes. Its name comes from the structure of the building along the street, where the upper floors will extend to the edge of the street and are supported by columns, forming an internal pedestrian walkway. The arcade has become a unique architectural form. The scale of Chikan Town's arcades is quite large, consisting of more than 600 Chinese-Western hybrid arcade facades, stretching for 3 kilometers and with a history of 350 years. The architectural styles here are diverse, including Gothic, Ancient Roman arcade style, Baroque, Islamic and Chinese traditional styles. The arcade street has become the Chikan Film and Television City, as well as the main street for local residents' daily life and transportation, presenting a strong atmosphere of grassroots life.
