Mao Dun's Former Residence, A Glimpse into the Life of a Literary Giant

Introduction
The former residence of Mao Dun is located at No. 13 Hu Tong, Yuan En Temple in Jiao Dao Kou South Street, Dongcheng District, Beijing. The gate is decorated with a black marble plaque inscribed with the words "Mao Dun Former Residence" written by Deng Yingchao. There are a total of 15 rooms in the front courtyard, including three rooms in the northern house and three each in the east and west wing rooms, and six inverted rooms. The west wing room was once Mao Dun's reception room and study room. The east wing room was used as a dining room, and the remaining rooms were used by family and staff. The back courtyard has six rooms in the northern house and two in the west wing room. The northern room was Mao Dun's studio and bedroom. After Mao Dun's death, the former residence was converted into a museum and opened to the public. At the entrance of the former residence, there is an 83cm-tall statue of Mao Dun made of white jade, sitting on a black marble base. The west wing room remains the same, with the furnishings used by Mao Dun during his lifetime. There are also other attractions around, such as the House of Prince Hejing, the Temple of Wen Tianxiang, the Memorial Site of Sun Yat-sen's Death, Ouyang Yuqian's Former Residence, the Confucius Temple, and the Imperial College, making it an enjoyable experience for tourists.
