Introduction

Zhigong Zen Monastery was built in the Ming Dynasty and is located to the east of Yingxian Bridge at the western foot of Jiuhua Mountain's Dongya Cliff. It is the leader of the "Four Great Forests (Zhigong, Dongya, Baisui, and Ganlu)." The monastery is divided into three sections, including the mountain gate, Maitreya Hall, the Great Buddha Hall, and monk dormitories. In 1983, Zhigong Zen Monastery was listed as a national key monastery in the Han ethnicity area. The vegetarian food here is delicious and served for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. However, due to high traffic, supplies are limited and planning ahead is essential. Zhigong Zen Monastery is one of the larger temples on the mountain and has a guesthouse for visitors. Its perfect hospitality standards and great value make it one of the best places to stay on the mountain.

Therefore, it is recommended to avoid weekend periods as much as possible if you want to drive to the mountain. It should be noted that there is no any return journey option between multiple boarding points, such as Kecun, Fenghuangsong, Tiantai Cableway (i.e., to Tiger Walk Villa), Yingxian Bridge (Jiuhua Street), and Huatai. For example, if the bus from Huatai only goes to Kecun, you must purchase another bus ticket to enter the mountain. Therefore, if you come out of Huatai, you must prepare for the procedures for the second entry into the mountain.
