Introduction

Hanshi Bridge Wetland Nature Reserve is located in the Jingdong Plain of Beijing, covering an area of 1,900 hectares, with the core area of about 3000 mu. It is the only large reed swamp wetland in the plain area of Beijing, recording 153 species of birds, including 2 national first-class protected animals and 17 national second-class protected animals, as well as 292 species of wild plants. It is considered as a habitat and transit station for many rare and endangered bird species. In order to protect this typical reed swamp wetland ecosystem and wildlife more effectively, the Beijing Municipal Government approved the establishment of the Hanshi Bridge Wetland Nature Reserve in April 2005. In June of the same year, the Shunyi District Government also established the Management Office of Hanshi Bridge Wetland Nature Reserve in Shunyi District of Beijing, with main responsibilities including wetland protection, scientific research and popularization, development and utilization.
