Introduction

This is the highest lake in Yunnan Province, named "Oak Tree Turns Felt Lake" (in Tibetan). The lakeside is densely forested with oak trees, resembling a green felt. There is a legend that says the shards of a broken mirror, accidentally dropped by a heavenly maiden while grooming, formed many plateau lakes, and Bitahai Lake is one of them, studded with sparkling green gems, which is mesmerizingly beautiful. Every year in June and July, a peculiar spectacle called "Rhododendron Intoxicates Fish" appears here. The famous writer Feng Mu once described this scene. It is said that the old bears in the forest also come to eat those drunken fish under the moonlight. A plank road has been built along the lake, and you can walk slowly to the lakeside pier. There are also boats in the lake, and you can take a boat ride to enjoy the beautiful scenery.
