Introduction
The former residence of Ye Jianying is located in the Yanyang Village of Meixian County, Guangdong Province. It was built in the Qing Dynasty and covers an area of 350 square meters, facing southwest. This is where Ye Jianying was born and grew up, and he returned here four times after the founding of the country. In the early 1970s, the local government and county invested in repairing some of the buildings and relocating clan relatives to other places. In 1987, the former residence was listed as a county-level cultural relic protection unit and opened to the public. In June 1989, the Guangdong Provincial Government listed it as a provincial-level cultural relic protection unit and belongs to the memorial hall management. In August 1992, after the approval of the Meixian government, the scope of cultural relic protection and construction control zones were designated. In June 2001, the Marshal Ye Jianying Memorial Hall was built on the right side of the former residence and was awarded as a demonstration base for patriotic education. In the same year, it was announced by the State Council as the fifth batch of key national cultural relic protection units.
