Introduction

Zhuzihu is a major area in Taiwan where Japanese cherry blossoms and iris were introduced and planted in the early days, with a long history. In 1912, the first Fubuki cherry tree and Yoshino cherry tree were planted in Zhuzihu, followed by the introduction and planting of Oshima cherry tree, Yaezakura, and others. In recent years, local farmers have also started planting flowers with high economic value, forming a unique natural landscape feature. It is worth mentioning that iris is one of the most famous varieties in the plant landscape of Zhuzihu. Since the introduction of white iris in 1969, it has now formed a scale of 13 hectares, and various colored iris flower species have been developed. The flowering period of iris is from December to May of the following year. Among them, the period from March to May is the most productive and also one of the most famous tourist attractions in Zhuzihu. Every March or April, Yangmingshan National Park will hold a grand Zhuzihu Iris Festival, attracting tourists from all over the world. The activities are rich and colorful, including performances, iris field experiences, rural landscape sketching, iris flower exhibitions, photography competitions, etc., allowing tourists to fully experience the beautiful scenery of Yangmingshan Zhuzihu and the beauty of iris.
